Jenna's mystery novels
One detective running from her past, another running from himself.
After faking her death and running for her life, Detective Evelyn Hale takes refuge in Defiance, Missouri, where a surge of violent crime has the town on edge. Suspicious of her circumstances and haunted by his own ghosts, her new partner, Conrad Kendry, wants her gone. But try as he might to convince everyone otherwise, he needs her help.
A string of vandalisms promise two things: chaos and destruction. Kendry fears they’ll soon grow violent, and he’s out of leads—and chances. Rumors swirl around the precinct that the higher ups are looking for any excuse to fire the angry son of their late Police Chief, despite his stellar conviction rates.
They both have one chance—one case—to put aside their differences and make this partnership work. Will they reconcile their differences and learn to trust each other before time runs out, and these crimes turn bloody?
Deviant Vandals is book one in The Detectives of Defiance, a romantic mystery series perfect for those who like true crime documentaries, crime procedurals (like NBC’s Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, CBS’ NCIS, ABC’s The Rookie, and Fox’s Bones), and a slow-burn romance that leaves you begging for more. Each book brings a new case, which will lead Evelyn and Conrad down the winding path of conspiracy and corruption in pursuit of the serial killer who tried to take Evelyn’s life—if they can learn to trust each other first.

When arson and murder collide, there’s only so many places a killer can hide.
The transition from big-city to small-town life has kept Detective Evelyn Hale busy. She’s settling into her house, secretly hunting the serial killer who slit her throat, and juggling her sobriety with the unresolved trauma from the undercover operation that sent her running for her life. Suffering from sleepless nights, flashbacks, and panic attacks, her hunt has stalled, and she finds herself wondering if she’s even looking in the right place—if the Butcher of Los Angeles isn’t hiding in Defiance after all.
With his ex-partner’s trial looming just around the corner and crucial evidence disappearing from his precinct, Detective Conrad Kendry has more than enough on his plate. The last thing he needs is his little sister barging onto a crime scene begging him to find her missing best friend, Alison. But when Kendry and Hale discover her body in the Little Woods less than half a mile away, their new partnership will be put to the test. Will they find Alison’s killers, or will their partnership crack under the pressure?
Depraved Accomplices is book two in The Detectives of Defiance. Each book brings a new case, which will lead Evelyn and Conrad down the winding path of conspiracy and corruption in pursuit of the serial killer who tried to take Evelyn’s life—if they can learn to trust each other first.
