DEPRAVED ACCOMPLICES: THE EXPLICIT CHAPTERS (AKA 'THE TRIGGER MENU')

If you're here, you're probably about to read The Detectives of Defiance book two, Depraved Accomplices. First of all, thank you for supporting an indie author. Second of all: I'm proud of you for choosing to protect yourself. With Evelyn's photographic memory, some of the content in this book is very graphic, and sometimes, preparing yourself is much better than going in blind. Sometimes, spoilers are worth it to protect yourself.

That being said: don't worry! None of the 'spoilers' below are major enough to give away the plot of the book. You'll still be able to experience the major plot twists of the book in all their jaw-dropping glory.

Chapter 6-7: Graphic details of a dead body.

Chapter 10: Conrad has a vivid dream of the day Mia died in his arms. She’s catapulted through the windshield and eviscerated. Blood, gore, death.

Chapter 11: Evelyn has a flashback of the night she finds her father killing her mother. Nudity and mentions of blood.

Chapter 14: Evelyn has a vivid, graphic flashback of the night Ashton tricked her into meeting Connor, who sexually assaults her. The assault itself is not depicted on page, but the immediate moments before and after are. All flashbacks are in italics, so they're easy to spot if you want to skip.

  Chapter 31: Evelyn engages a suspect in the Little Woods. Assault, attempted murder, strangulation, shooting.

Chapter 33: Evelyn has multiple flashbacks of prior sexual assaults. They are brief, but graphic. Nudity, violence, and blood mentioned. Flashbacks are in italics for easy skipping.

Chapter 36: Conrad has a flashback of his captivity and torture in the Middle East. Electrocution, cigarette burns, nail guns, suicidal ideation mentioned. Flashback is in italics for easy skipping.

Remember: there is absolutely nothing wrong with skipping anything that might put your mental health at risk.

Nothing is more important than your state of mind. There should be nothing absolutely integral to the storyline that you'll miss out on if you skip some of these parts. Yes, it's important to each of their backstories and how they are the way they are, and you might miss out on little details that will pop up throughout the series, but the general ideas of what have been done to both Conrad and Evelyn (explained above) should provide plenty of context for their behaviors and plot points that will move the story forward. So, if you skip, you won't miss out on much. Just the gory details--literally. If you don't want to skip, you absolutely can and should take breaks between reading when needed. Put the book down, put on your favorite comfort show. Go grab some snacks. Go take a walk. Come back to it in an hour, a day, a week. Whatever you need!
